Kathy Hayes has more than 30 years of experience in both public and private accounting specializing in federal, state and local tax services. Kathy worked with Reznick Group, P.C. and Ernst & Young LLP, where she served as the Mid-Atlantic Area Leader of e-SALT Services. Kathy’s experience also includes working in the corporate tax planning department of Ahold USA, Inc., which was the third largest retail grocer in the world with an extensive portfolio of real estate.
While Kathy is experienced in federal tax, including tax compliance, ASC 740, FIN 48 and special projects, her particular area of specialty is state and local tax. She closely monitors this area and is proactive in keeping her clients informed of significant regulatory, legislative, and business changes and trends. She has designed and implemented tax minimization strategies for technology, retail, telecommunications, manufacturing, government contracting, and service oriented clients. In addition, her background includes representing clients in federal, state and local tax audits (income, sales and use, BPOL), resolving reporting issues arising from corporate structure and business entity reorganizations, and drafting policies and procedures that enable tax departments to become more self sufficient. Kathy has devoted significant attention to developing sales and use tax matrices for her clients, particularly in the area of cloud computing, to ensure that the sales and use tax liabilities of their customers do not become their own as a result of the failure to properly collect tax.
